I am a fouth generation farmer and rancher from California. My wife, son and I raise Registered Angus cattle, Percheron draft horses, Warmbloods, alfalfa and grass/alfalfa hay. We also start and train horses for riding, jumping, and driving. Our family run ranch has incorporated many environmentally beneficial and water efficient technologies and management strategies. I attended college at Colorado State University for two years and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for four and earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science.
Just over a year ago, Ray Prock (@RayLinDairy) talked me into getting involved in social media. From there it has been a tremendous experience. Over the course of the past year, I have met some wonderful folks who share the passion for empowering farmers and ranchers to share their story. Through online conversations and finally a face-to-face meeting, the Foundation was born.
We share a belief that American agriculture, in order to survive, must remain diversified and economically viable. It is to that end that we welcome and encourage the participation of all facets of agriculture and hope to help everyone become proficient and effective at sharing their story and educating the public.
Since the birth of the Foundation and the tremendous involvement of many fellow ranchers, farmers and agricultural volunteers, we have made exponential progress at being able to empower farmers and ranchers. We have open arms and welcome you to connect with us. In fact, let us help you. Mark your calendars and register for our First Agvocacy 2.0 Training Conference in August. It is invigorating to meet new people and have them join us in our endeavor to reach out to more people, build stronger communities and ensure the viability of American Agriculture for generations to come.
Jeff Fowle – California, Farmer & Rancher, AgChat Foundation President
As the fourth generation to farm and ranch at our current location, and raising the fifth, it is extremely important to Jeff that the land remains productive, the environment healthy and the water plentiful. “Engaging in a positive manner through social media and other outlets is essential in order to effectively communicate with the public what, why and how we do what we do. An educated public and consumer, is agriculture’s best insurance policy for future generations to share our passion and commitment to providing the safest, most abundant and affordable food supply in the world. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to work with such a diverse and enthusiastic group of agvocates on what is certain to be a most rewarding endeavor.”
